Mainers Can Get Home Safe on New Year’s with Union Street Towing
Once again this year, Union Street Towing is offering to get revelers from the Greater Bangor area home safe after a night of New Year's partying.
How Are You Getting Home New Year's Eve?
It's almost New Year's Eve, so now is the time to make your plans. Will you go out or are you staying home for more private festivities? Bangor Police say if you're one of those who plan to go out, it's important to have a safe way home. There are a few ways to accomplish this:
- Have a totally sober designated driver. This is always a good plan if you have someone who can actually abstain from drinking for the entire night. Just remember that line about the road to hell. (being paved with good intentions)
- Call a cab, Uber, or Lyft. This is great, as long as you can find one. They get pretty busy on New Year's Eve.
- Make arrangements to stay where you drink. That is, if you have permission, like crashing on a friend's couch. The local bar owners are probably not going to let you curl up in a booth.
I don't know that last one for a fact, but I'm just guessing that they won't allow you to spend the night alone in the bar with their booze.
What If I Need My Car the Next Day?
But for many people without overnight accommodations, leaving their vehicle behind while they take a cab isn't an option. They have to go to work in the morning and won't have time to retrieve their vehicle. Or they don't trust that it will be safe on its own, in a sea of revelers. That's when you call Union Street Towing.
The good folks at Union Street Towing will tow your vehicle, and transport you, safely back home to the Bangor/Brewer area at no cost to you. They just want to make sure that you, and anyone you might meet on the roads, are safe.
Will They Also Take Your Date in the Tow Truck?
There are a few restrictions:
- Union Street Towing will only take you home. Don't call them to move your car from party to party or bar to bar.
- The vehicle must be operational.
- You must have the keys. (don't ask them to move a vehicle that's not yours)
- They will transport you and one friend, but don't ask them to squeeze in all of your buddies.
- This is limited to people who live in the immediate Bangor/Brewer area.
Right now, before you head to the party or bar, program Union Street Towing's phone number, (207) 942-8663, into your cellphone. That way, if you've had too much to drink and need a tow home, you'll have their number at your fingertips.
Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve.
