'The world is a pretty fragile place, just ask the dinosaurs.'

I read that quote recently in a Reader's Digest magazine, and laughed...nervously, especially after the meteor that crashed in Russia the other day injuring hundreds and causing significant damage. So how safe are we?

Apparently after the Russia/meteor incident, officials are now deciding we need some sort of early warning system and method of deflection of these global killers. Isn't it interesting that we are only now taking it a bit more seriously? C'mon, scientists! Haven't you ever watched the movie, 'Armageddon?'
