Officials are investigating two accidents over the weekend that killed two people and injured three others.

The Oxford County Sheriff's Office says the car accident happened around 1:00 Sunday morning in Buckfield, at the intersections of Route 117, North Whitman School Road, and South Whitman School Road. Two vehicles collided, with a passenger in a sedan dying at the scene. WABI-TV reports the driver of that vehicle had to be airlifted to a Lewiston hospital, while another was taken to the hospital by ambulance, along with the driver of the second vehicle.

In Sebago, a man died while riding a dirt bike on Sunday. Corporal John MacDonald says it appears he lost control of the bike and struck an embankment, while traveling off-road.

The names of those involved in both accidents have not been released, pending notification of family. Officials continue to investigate the crashes.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
