A Georgia woman had a loaded handgun in her handbag when she tried to board a plane in Bangor.

Airport officials at BIA told WABI-TV that federal TSA agents found the gun, loaded with six bullets, in the woman's purse. When they confronted her with it, the woman told them she didn't have any idea the gun was there, and thought it had been left in a different bag. The woman drove to Maine and was scheduled to fly back to Georgia. TSA agents allowed her to hand the weapon off to a friend who wasn't ticketed to fly. By law, the agents have the right to issue penalties to travelers found with guns.

This is the first gun TSA agents have found at Bangor International Airport this year.
