In my usual cruisings on Facebook over the weekend, I happened upon a post  that stopped me dead in my tracks. It claimed that one of Bangor's most beloved pizza places was up for sale... Tri-City Pizza. I was kind of shocked, and scared all at once. As I'm sure all of Bangor will be as the news gets out a bit more.

Now let's get one thing straight right away.... THIS DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE CLOSING. But simply, that the business is for sale. I looked it up myself, and sure enough, found this listing on LoopNet.com. Currently, it's listed at $749,000. And really, that's not a bad price for such a well established spot as Tri-City.

Since moving to Hampden, it's been a minute since I made it over to Tri-City. But when I used to live on outer Broadway, it was often a place I would stop into real quick for pie on the way home from work. Heck, I think the first pizza I ever had came from there back when I was a kid.

So that means it's been there since at least the 70's. If that doesn't hint to a successful business with that kind of longevity, I don't know what does. According to the listing, it says the owners are retiring, and looking to sell. They've certainly done lots of improvements to the property. It's been renovated upstairs, and has an apartment that could either be lived in by a new owner, or maybe even rented out to a tenant to offset the mortgage.

Hopefully, whoever decides to buy Tri-City gets the history that goes along with it, and doesn't try to change it. The old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And that couldn't be truer in this case. But, only time will tell. For now, let's just get our pizza fix in while we can, and hope for the best for all parties concerned!
