Trenton Man Dies In Route 1A Head-on Crash

A Trenton man died Wednesday in a head-on crash on Route 1A in Ellsworth.

Michael Mckee, 44, was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 10:30 p.m.

Mckee was driving a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Police found the vehicle on the shoulder of the northbound lane with extensive front-end damage.

Police say it appears Mckee's vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a 2017 Toyota truck driven by Richard Robbins, 68, of Surry. Robbins was taken to Northern Lights Maine Coast Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Robbins was subsequently charged with operating under the influence.

The accident remains under investigation.
