Traffic Stop in Bangor Leads to Drug Arrests
Two people from Lincoln face charges after police found suspected heroin and methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Bangor Monday.
Corey Pelkey, 30, and Katie Ireland, 29, face felony charges including unlawful drug trafficking as the result of a traffic stop at about 6 p.m. on Garland Street near Essex Street in Bangor.
A Bangor police dog named "Raye" that is trained to detect drugs "showed a great deal of interest" in the vehicle, police said.
Officers searched the vehicle and found items of drug paraphernalia, several grams of suspected methamphetamine and heroin, and more than $7,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Both were taken to Penobscot County Jail.
