Thomaston Man Allegedly Shot A Woman On Southport Island

A Thomaston man is facing charges after a woman was shot and another man injured on Southport Island.

34-year-old Allan Wigglesworth of Thomaston is charged with felony elevated aggravated assault, aggravated assault, and aggravated criminal trespass. The Portland Press Herald reports he and another man and a woman were at a home on Church Street when a fight broke out just before 11:00 Thursday night. Deputies recovered a .22 caliber rifle at the scene.

A 24-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening. A 38-year-old man was treated at LincolnHealth-Miles campus in Damariscotta for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the confrontation.

The investigation is ongoing, but officials say it's believed to be a domestic violence incident, based upon the relationship between the victim and Wigglesworth.
