On this day in country music history in 1996, Deana Carter received a gold album for the debut of 'Did I Shave My Legs for This?.'

Although we don't hear a lot from Tennessee born Deana Carter these days, we sure as heck haven't forgotten about her. It was in 1994 that a demo of Carter's landed in Willie Nelson's hands, who promptly invited her join Farm Aid VII--she was the only female on the bill. And it wasn't long after Farm Aid that 'Did I Shave My Legs for This?' got some recognition.

Of course many today recognize her hit 'Strawberry Wine,' which remains a favorite on Q-106.5's playlist. And although she's not touring, she's still performing at smaller venues and writing songs. You may recall a hit called, 'You and Tequila,' a song made famous by Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter, off Chesney's 2010 album, 'Hemingway's Whiskey...Carter wrote that along with Matraca Berg. Impressive, huh?
