The Rock Won This Lip Sync Battle Covering Taylor Swift; Is There Anything He Can’t Do?
Last weekend, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hosted SNL and did an amazing job. So, this guy can walk down a street with a giant gatling gun in Furious 7 and also be hilarious? It's almost not fair. But, The Rock’s range doesn't stop there. Last night, he appeared on the debut episode of Lip Sync Battle, a spinoff of sorts from the popular segment on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, and of course he won. By lip syncing Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”. This you gotta see.
Here's what so great about this. Not only does The Rock completely crush the song, he somehow manages to remain in character (while singing and dancing to a Taylor Swift song, mind you) and gives his competitor Fallon the middle finger during the song. Manly, funny, talented: it’s The Rock boiled down to one 90-second video.
The new Spike TV show is hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen and while last night featured The Rock vs. Fallon, future episodes will include Anne Hathaway, Anna Kendrick, Jennifer Lopez, John Krasinski, John Legend, Stephen Merchant, Malin Akerman and more pretending to sing famous songs.
If you can't get enough of The Rock singing, he recently signed on to star in the next Disney animated musical Moana, where he'll be contributing to a number of original songs.
