The Infamous Ice Disk in Westbrook, Maine Has Returned
Like another movie sequel you didn't ask for or a bad habit that you just can't kick, the infamous ice disk in Westbrook, Maine seems intent on coming back. Shared on Facebook by James Tranchemontagne, winter wouldn't be winter in Westbrook without the ice disk making an appearance.
The 2023 version of the ice disk isn't shimmering in her full glory, but as Tranchemontagne details in this Facebook post, it has formed and it is spinning. It's been a strange winter in Maine and conditions hadn't been ripe for the ice disk to return until just recently. And just like another Fast and the Furious sequel, it's probably not going to be good as the original but it's there if you want to see it.
Why So Many Ice Disks in Westbrook?
It's clear the Presumpscot River in Westbrook is prime for ice disks to form and sustain. Why and how an ice disk forms will hurt most people's brains but there are some bodies of water that are perfect for the natural phenomenon to come to life. Given the forecasted atmospheric conditions over the next week or so in Maine, the 2023 ice disk has a chance to survive and improve.
