Donn Fendler

The main character of a book inspired by the true tale of his time lost on Mt. Katahdin when he was on 12 years old, has passed away at 90 years old.

Growing up in Millinocket, the Donn Fendler story was one that we all heard, knew and were amazed by! Donn would often return to Millinocket talking to local school children, and when he spoke of his ordeal back in 1939, everyone listened to this folk hero! Now, 73 years later, the story of Donn Fendler's struggle to survive is being made into a movie, and for those of us from the Katahdin Region.
