A man who has allegedly been damaging vehicles in Augusta's West Side neighborhood is now in custody.

Augusta Police Chief Jared Mills says 30 Micael Bizuneh was arrested on Tuesday and charged with Aggravated Criminal Mischief. The arrest was the result of an investigation that began after multiple reports of vehicles being damaged in the area between Western Avenue and Winthrop Street. Mills says most of the damage was broken windows but, in some cases, it appeared that heavy objects were thrown at the vehicles, causing damage.

On Tuesday, police received a report of a damaged motor vehicle on Chapel Street and, shortly thereafter, located Bizuneh. After executing a search warrant, Bizuneh was placed under arrest. His bail was set at $35,000, with a condition of a curfew from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m, and he was then transferred to the Kennebec County Jail.

Police say the investigation into the complaints is ongoing, and that they are believed to be connected. Anyone with information about the criminal mischief activity is asked to contact the Augusta Police Department's Criminal Investigations Bureau at (207) 626-2370, extension 3418.
