Police continue to investigate after a man was shot on Friday in the Scarborough Walmart parking lot.

The victim, 24-year-old Ryan Townsend of Saco, had emergency surgery on Sunday, after spending the weekend in critical condition. Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the shooting was reported to police at about 5:30 Saturday evening. Townsend was shot outside his vehicle and a Scarborough police officer, who was inside the store at the time, was on scene in moments, aided by officers from the South Portland Police Department.

24-year-old Tyler Hish of Scarborough was questioned and released, as well as a woman who witnessed the shooting and who knows both men. Now, Scarborough Police are asking to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information pertinent to the investigation.
