Skowhegan Police are Investigating the death of a woman whose body was found on Wednesday.

Skowhegan, Maine Police Report a Deceased Woman Found in a Residence

The deceased has been identified as Nichole Jackson, 46, of Skowhegan.

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says Skowhegan Police received a 911 all just after 11:30 am on January 14, 2026. The caller reported a person not breathing at 361 West Front Street.

Skowhegan, Maine Police Discover a Deceased Woman on West Front Street

When the officers arrived at the address, they discovered a deceased female at the residence. An autopsy revealed that she died of blunt and sharp force trauma and her death was ruled a homicide.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central was called to assist in the investigation.

On Saturday, January 17th, Ms. Jackson's boyfriend, Dane Burke, 55, of Skowhegan was tracked to Massachusetts. He led the police on a high-speed chase that stretched into New Hampshire before crashing his vehicle.

He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were believed to be non-life-threatening. Upon his release, he will be taken to jail charged with murder, and await extradition to Maine.
