Three people are facing charges after a traffic stop in Skowhegan that ended with the seizure of cocaine and fentanyl.
3 People Face Charges After Drugs Were Seized from a Skowhegan, Maine Traffic Stop
Skowhegan Police say the Middle Road traffic stop occurred on Saturday night.
Three people were arrested:
- Sadie MacDonald, 30, of Fairfield, is charged with aggravated trafficking of fentanyl and unlawful possession of cocaine.
- Louis Lopez, 51, is charged with aggravated trafficking of fentanyl, unlawful trafficking of cocaine, and unsworn falsification.
- Michael Griffin, 38, of Farmingdale, was driving the vehicle. He's charged with operating after license suspended, failure to provide proof of insurance, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker.

In a post on the department's Facebook page, Skowhegan Police say Griffin's 2004 Toyota Camry was stopped for missing a registration plate and having a loud exhaust.
Maine Police K9 Indicated Illegal Drugs During a Skowhegan Traffic Stop

When Officer Shane Lay first encountered the four people in the vehicle, he discovered that none of them had a valid driver's license.
He called upon Sergeant Joshua York and K9 Reece to assist in the traffic stop.
The search was initiated after K9 Reece indicated the presence of illegal drugs on MacDonald.
Skowhegan, Maine Police Seized Fentanyl & Cocaine, Arrested 3 During Traffic Stop
Seized in that search were:
- 91.83 grams of fentanyl
- 27.37 grams of cocaine
- 54.06 grams of a cutting substance.
A 'cutting substance' is any non-psychoactive material that's mixed into illegal drugs to increase their bulk, dilute their purity, and maximize the dealer's profits.
Examples of cutting substances include household sugars, baking soda, or starch.
