Skowhegan Head-On Crash Kills Local Man

A head-on collision between a car and a tractor trailer on Tuesday has left a Skowhegan man dead.

The accident happened at around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon on Route 2 in Skowhegan. WABI-TV reports 39-year-old Jeremy Garland died in the crash. Officials believe Garland's vehicle drifted across the center line into the path of a tractor trailer, driven by 21-year-old Jared Thorne of Sidney, at the intersection of Route 2 and the Dudley Corner Road. Thorne was treated and released for his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
