Skowhegan Fair

The 2012 Skowhegan State Fair kicked off this week and it brings with it one of my favorite summertime events. The Demolition Derby! Personally, I think Skowhegan has the best Demo derby around. The grandstand is comfortable, the crowd is always large and enthusiastic, and the track is dampened, which can make for some muddy fun!

Of course, the fair offers much more than just the demo derbies. It's a fantastic agricultural fair, with a special, covered pavilion for horse and tractor pulling, and agricultural demonstrations. The Midway is always fun, there's a battle of the bands, and free laser tag! The fair is going on now through August 18th. For a complete schedule, click here.

Of course, there's also all the great fair food, all the fun games, and the Beer Garden. But if you want to find me, check the grandstands on the last Friday of the fair during the Demolition Derby!
