A Cumberland County Sheriff's Deputy was on his way to another call when his cruiser struck the back of another vehicle before coming to rest against a gas station's sign.

The accident happened at around 7:00 Sunday morning on Tandberg Trail in Windham. Captain Scott Stewart reported on the department's Facebook page that 38-year-old Jenea Eide of Windham was traveling west when she slowed to make a left-hand turn into the driveway of the Irving Little Mart. A marked cruiser that was traveling behind her collided with her vehicle before leaving the roadway, striking a vent pipe for the underground gas storage tanks, and before striking the Little Mart sign.

Stewart did not identify the deputy involved in the accident but said he was responding to an unrelated incident at the time and was not injured. Eide was transported to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries. The convenience store remained open during the crash, however the gas pumps were turned off.

The crash is under investigation.
