Scarborough Traffic Stop Nets Two Arrests On Drug Charges
A routine traffic stop on the Maine Turnpike in Scarborough netted the arrests of two Connecticut residents on drug trafficking charges.
State Police pulled the vehicle over at around 2:30 Friday morning. The driver, 26-year-old Michelle Magnani of Meriden, Connecticut told troopers that she was going to the Bangor Casino for the weekend, with her boyfriend, 41-year-old Keyon Wellington of New Britain, Connecticut. The trooper learned that the woman, who is six months pregnant, had no license and noticed several indicators that caused him to call for a drug-sniffing dog.
K9 Mack indicated the presence of Narcotics on Wellington, so the vehicle was searched. Seized from the vehicle were 17 grams of suspected cocaine and 8 glassine bags of suspected fentanyl.
Magnani is now charged with two counts of trafficking of scheduled W drugs, as well as operating without a license. Wellington is charged with two counts of trafficking in scheduled W drugs. Both people were taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
