A Sanford man has been charged with murder in connection with a 2015 home-invasion robbery that caused a woman to suffer a fatal heart attack.

Carlton Young, 25, was indicted last week by a York County grand jury on murder, manslaughter and burglary charges, Maine State Police said Tuesday.

Young and three other individuals are accused of robbing several homes in York County in March 2015.

Police said the suspects went to one of the homes a second time to steal more jewelry. The female homeowner, who was inside the residence at the time, suffered a fatal heart attack when she observed the men attempting to break in.

The four suspects were located and arrested by police on March 25. Young’s three co-defendants have already been sentenced for their roles in the crime spree.
