A potential member of a dangerous street gang wanted for a scary incident in Maine is caught in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts Police Arrest a Man Wanted for an Armed Car Chase in Maine

The Lawrence, Massachusetts, Police Department reports that Luis Jose Nivar Cabral was arrested on Monday on an arrest warrant from Maine. He's believed to be a member of the dangerous and violent street gang, Trinitario, which is based in the Dominican Republic.

The warrant was issued following a concerning incident in Rumford, Maine, on August 15, 2025, which prompted an overnight shelter-in-place order for the community. A failed traffic stop led to a potentially deadly high-speed chase.

Rumford Police said the occupants of the vehicle allegedly began firing AR-15-style rifles at the cruisers that were following them.

The abandoned vehicle was eventually located, and two suspects were taken into custody. Three others remained at large, allegedly including Cabral.

Massachusetts Police Use Tactical Teams to Capture Man Wanted in Maine

Officials have been investigating Cabral after he was stopped and arrested on a warrant by Massachusetts Police on August 31, 2025. WCVB in Boston reports Cabral was allegedly carrying eight pieces of identification for others, including the ID for one of the men arrested in Rumford.

The FBI says Cabral allegedly had made multiple drug-related trips to Maine from Massachusetts and is believed to have been involved in several home invasions.

Cabral was taken into custody in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on Monday, September 15, 2025, after police tactical teams forced him out of a house.

He will be returned to Maine to face charges.
