One man was critically injured early Wednesday morning in a crash on Route 9 in Clifton involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer.

Jay Preston, 30, of Dennysville, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado at about 1 a.m. when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2000 Western Star tractor-trailer operated by Rodney Tolman, 56, of Amherst, according to police.

Preston has a suspended driver’s license, police said.

Preston was critically injured in the rollover crash. He was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Shortly after noon, police said the road had reopened to traffic.

The accident is under investigation.
