
Rockland, Maine Student Dies After Being Hit By a School Bus
An RSU 13 student has died after being hit by a school bus Friday afternoon.

The name of the student is not being released, out of respect for privacy for the victim and their family.
Rockland Police and Fire & EMC Department members were called to Broadway, at the intersection of Eliza Steele Drive, for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. When they arrived, they found an RSU 13 student who had been struck by a school bus.
Rockland, Maine Student Suffers Serious Injuries When Hit By a School Bus
The child was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and then flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center.

The Rockland Police Department say the student died of their injuries.
The incident remains under investigation and officials have not commented on whether any charges will be filed. The name of the driver has not been released.

RSU 13 Superintendent John McDonald posted a letter on the department's Facebook page advising parents that counseling services will be available for students and staff who may need support during this difficult time.
