
Rockland, Maine Police Say a Student Had a Gun in Their Car at School
An Oceanside High School student was charged after the police found a firearm in their vehicle on school grounds.

The student's name has not been released.
Rockland Police were called to the school when the student allegedly made 'serious and concerning' statements to a staff member regarding school safety.

Officials say the seriousness of the violation prompted them to charge the teen with possession of a firearm by a student.
Rockland, Maine Police Say Oceanside High School Student Allegedly Made Threats
When officers arrived, they found the student with members of the school's administrative staff.
An investigation determined there was no immediate threat to the school. The student was charged after a firearm and ammunition were located in their vehicle.

RSU13 officials say they do not anticipate a continued threat, but they will coordinate with the Rockland Police Department on next steps.
RSU 13, Maine School Officials Ask Students to Report Anything Suspicious
In a post on the RSU 13 Facebook page, school officials encouraged parents to talk to their children.
We also encourage families to speak with their children about the importance of reporting anything that feels unsafe or reporting anything that they hear or see that is concerning, particularly through social media.
RSU 13 staff members regularly participate in safety training, according to a post on the department's website.
