Rhode Island Man Arrested For Augusta Convenience Store Robbery
A Rhode Island man faces charges in connection with a robbery at an Augusta convenience store.
Augusta Police say the robbery happened just before 4:30 this morning at the Big Apple on Civic Center Drive. A white male with short black hair and a mustache, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register by force before fleeing the store. No weapon was displayed in the course of the robbery.
A State Police K-9 tracked the suspect to a nearby residence where 28-year-old Brian Coutu was located. Based on evidence at the scene, the Woonsocket, Rhode Island man was arrested for robbery. 32-year-old Leo Coutu was also taken into custody for outstanding arrest warrants that were not related to the robbery. Bail was set for Brian Coutu at $10,000 cash before he was taken to the Kennebec County Jail.
