On Thanksgiving Day, The Hardin Family, The Q-106.5 Radio Family & WVII & FOX Bangor all felt the loss of a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, co-worker, radio personality...friend. Gene Hardin, known to our listeners as JJ West, passed away on Thursday.

He was 59.

As Craig Colson, former News Director at Q-106.5, and current News Director at WVII & FOX Bangor states, "He was one of the good guys."

Our very own Nelson Jewell had this to say to Gene, his wife Judi, their family & extended family and many friends...

"Gracious Father in Heaven, my heart is broken as I am mourning the loss of one of the great radio and TV voices here in Maine. A longtime friend to many, Gene (JJ West) Hardin, passed away suddenly on Thanksgiving Day. As deep sorrow continues to settle in for the Q-106.5 staff, and his co-workers at ABC7-WVII, we lift his hurting family up to you. Love them, comfort them, and surround them with your earthly angels to help get them through the tough hours, days and months ahead. We pray these things in your Son's precious and Holy name...Amen. Rest in peace, JJ. We love you, brother, and will miss you terribly."

Anyone that met and was able to spend time with Gene, knew just how much he loved his family, his work, and life. Gene will be missed by everyone!

Please leave a message below for the family and his many, many friends as we all deal with this loss. God Bless each and every one of you.
