Investigators have identified remains found in a densely wooded area as that of a woman missing since June 2017.

Police say remains were located April 7 south of the Route 3/Cushnoc bridge in Augusta.

On April 24, the State Medical Examiner's Office identified the body through dental records as that of Megan Gregory, 29, or Gardiner.

Gregory had been reported missing to Gardiner Police in June of 2017.

Police say evidence collected at the scene indicates that Gregory's death is not suspicious. Police say evidence also indicates the remains had been at that location since the time Megan was reported missing.

An official cause of death has not been determined.
