Maine Is the Setting for Season 3 of Popular Amazon Prime Series ‘Reacher’
I'm happy season 3 of a favorite Prime series is set in Maine, but had to chuckle at this actor's 'Maine' accent.
A Dangerous Drifter Finds His Way to Maine
Typically, when Maine comes up in a movie or TV series, it's a vacation destination. Or it's a place where people go to be alone.
Then, of course, there's the horror element that has become associated with the state due to that famous author.
What you don't usually see is Maine as a center for crime, intrigue, and dangerous do-gooder drifters.

That is, until now.
My husband, Jim, and I have enjoyed the Amazon Prime series 'Reacher' for the past couple of years.
Jim's a fan of the books who hated the Tom Cruise movie character because Reacher is supposed to be a huge, well-muscled, intimidating guy.
In other words, not Tom Cruise. Alan Ritchson fits the character perfectly.
One Actor Starred in Another Series Set in Maine
On Friday, we started watching season 3 of Reacher and were pleased to learn that it's set in Maine. The story focuses on the owner of a rug business, 'Bizarre Bazaar,' who's also caught up in some criminal activity. The bad guy is played by Anthony Michael Hall, who also played Johnny Smith in the Stephen King novel-based TV series, 'The Dead Zone,' set in Maine.

Another Actor's Accent is Well Done, But for Boston...Not Maine
But then there's the Sonya Cassidy, who plays Federal Agent Susan Duffy, and her bad Maine accent. To be fair, she's British, but her voice coach seems to have focused her New England accent on Boston, not Maine.
Still, I'm already loving season 3 of Reacher better than season 2. It's fun that they've included references to Pittsfield and Waterville. And maybe Agent Duffy moved to Maine from Massachusetts...because there's no way she's a native.
