RaeLynn’s Tourmates Sara Evans and Kalie Shorr Got to Hear ‘Queens Don’t’ Early — and Loved It
Up-and-coming country singer RaeLynn hit the road with Sara Evans and Kalie Shorr in February for the fourth annual CMT Next Women of Country Tour, which features both established and on-the-rise women in the genre. Evans is the latest in a string of heavy hitters, such as Jennifer Nettles and Martina McBride, to headline. Recently, The Boot caught up with RaeLynn to hear all about life on the road and how her tourmates reacted to her brand-new empowerment anthem, "Queens Don't."
"It's just a big girl hang, you know," RaeLynn says of the tour. "I love seeing Kalie out there rocking it with her guitar. I have the biggest girl crush on her. She just does so well every night.
"And Sara is just such a classic in country music," she adds. "She just has so many amazing hits and is such a class act in general."
Shorr, who has made her own contribution to empowering women both in and outside of the music industry with "Time's Up," her single with Nashville's Song Suffragettes musicians collective, shares RaeLynn's excitement about the release of "Queens Don't": "She and Sara loved the song," RaeLynn says. "It's Kalie's favorite song in the set."
"I love everything that supports women," RaeLynn continues. "To be on the road with two powerhouses is awesome."
The tour not only affords RaeLynn the opportunity to surround herself with inspirational women -- a rare occurrence in the music industry -- but watching Evans headline the show is a learning experience for the younger artist, as she looks towards headlining her own shows in the future.
"One thing I love about Sara's set is that she's just super personable with the crowd," RaeLynn explains. "Her set just flows so well. That's something that we can all learn how to do better."
