To kick off Veterans Day and to help celebrate our local veterans in November, Q106.5 teamed up with Home Roofing Solutions for a luncheon to recognize our Maine veterans, share stories, and discuss ideas on how to help better support those who are serving or who have served.

The luncheon was spearheaded by Home Roofing Solutions owners Joe and Jodi Brasslett as they kicked off a new U.S. military support campaign “The Marino Project: Roofs For Troops”, founded in honor of their friend and fellow Mainer, Gunnery Sargent David Marino from Milo, Maine. The future goal of The Marino Project: Roofs For Troops is to bring more awareness and support for active, veteran and retired service members suffering from a disability, PTSD, and other traumatic injuries during and after their service.

The luncheon included local Maine veterans Walt Dunakin, Louie Roybal, and Bruce Handy, all retired after years of service. These local veterans were generous in their time, shared stories from their service, and offered ideas and insight into ways “The Marino Project: Roofs For Troops” can continue to serve not just veterans, but all military members in years to come.

Q106.5’s Scott Miller was on hand to gather stories from each veteran, which you can read more about here on our website. Louie and Bruce also offered their time to tell their stories and share what their military service meant to them on Q106.5.

Q106.5 is honored to have hosted this event in conjunction with Home Roofing Solutions. Plans are already being made to make this luncheon an annual event as part of “The Marino Project: Roofs For Troops.”
