Prospect Accident Sends 5 To The Hospital
Five people were injured in a single car crash near the Penobscot Narrows Bridge in Prospect.
The accident happened at around 12:45 Saturday morning on Route 1. According to the Waldo County Sheriff's Office, a grey Mercedes was traveling west on when the driver failed to negotiate a left sweeping turn. Four of the occupants of the car were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for their injuries, two by ambulance and two by LifeFlight. The fifth occupant was taken to Waldo County General Hospital for his injuries and was eventually cleared.
The vehicle sustained significant front end damage, and investigators say speed and alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash.
