Portland Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a man on Oxford Street.

Tyrese Collins, age 19, was arrested early Friday morning for the murder of Jack Wilson, who was shot on June 26th on Oxford Street, near the intersection with Elm Street. Wilson died of his injuries on Tuesday in a local hospital. The shooting happened near the Preble Street homeless shelter. A police officer who was near the shelter heard the gunshots and rushed to the scene where he found Wilson with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

When Police arrested Collins, he was already in custody at the Cumberland County Jail on a probation violation charge. He's also a suspect in a separate stabbing that happened last fall. That case is set for jury selection in August.

He's due to be arraigned on the murder charge on Monday.
