Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a woman in Portland on Sunday morning.

WGME-TV reports the woman's body was found at 362 Cumberland Avenue in Portland at around 10:45 Sunday morning. 61-year-old Gregory Vance was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with murder. He was reportedly arrested at the scene and is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.

An autopsy is planned by the State Medical Examiner's Office to determine how the woman died. Police have not released the victim's name, pending notification of next of kin.

This murder investigation comes on the heels of another homicide in Portland on Saturday. Police were called to Milton Street Saturday morning, where a man was shot to death during an altercation. No one has been arrested for that death. Even as police were investigating that homicide, they were called to Sherman Street in Portland for a report of shots fired, just a few hours later. No one was hurt and one man was arrested.
