Police in Saco are searching the river after one of their officers thought she spotted someone who either fell or jumped into the water.

WGME-TV reports the officer was driving across the bridge that spans the Saco River between Saco and Biddeford at around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, when she noticed a suspicious man leaning over the edge. But when she turned around to investigate, she says the man was gone.

Crews from multiple agencies spent last night combing the river banks for any evidence of the unknown man. Maine Marine Patrol officers used their boats to search the water. But, in the end, there was no sign of anyone. The search is resuming this morning.
