Police Say Truck Shooting Didn’t Happen As Reported
State Police now say a truck shooting and robbery earlier this week didn't happen as reported.
Originally the incident was thought to be a case of road rage, with someone in a vehicle firing a shot through the windshield of a tractor trailer as it traveled along I-95 in Howland. Then police released that the driver of the truck hauling Poland Spring water was robbed after the shot was fired. He allegedly told police that two men in a red sedan with a gray driver's side door fired the shot and then pulled him from the cab and stole his money when he stopped the rig.
Now, State Police say the alleged shooting of the truck and subsequent robbery did not occur as reported. Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says, at this point, investigators have concluded there was no attempt to target the truck or the company, and that there is no on-going risk to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
