State Police have released the identity of a Portland man whose SUV hit an I-95 guardrail in Kennebunk.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said the driver of the SUV that crashed on Friday afternoon is 22-year-old Tyler Brown. He's being treated at a Portsmouth hospital for multiple injuries and is expected to recover.

Brown lost control of his SUV at a high rate of speed. The vehicle veered across three southbound lanes and struck the median guardrail. The impact was so great that the motor was ripped from his SUV and he was thrown from his vehicle onto the pavement. Brown was not wearing a seat belt. The crash is under investigation.

This crash preceded another car-truck collision two miles away that killed a man and a 5-year-old boy, as traffic slowed down because of the Kennebunk accident.
