Pickup Strikes Utility Pole, Leading To Power Outages In Winslow
Police in Winslow say a man operating a pickup truck struck a utility pole after swerving to avoid a vehicle that had lost control due to the road conditions.
Patrick Turgeon, 19, of Sidney struck a pole in the area of 631 Augusta Road, the Winslow Police Department said in a news release Tuesday morning.
Members of the Winslow police and fire departments responded to the scene at 7:19 a.m., and the road was shut down immediately.
Central Maine Power responded to the scene to repair the pole, which police said was severely damaged in the accident.
The release, sent out at 10:15 a.m., said power would be shut off for about three hours and all traffic lights south of Sebasticook Bridge would be inoperable.
The Winslow Public Works Department was expected to deploy portable stop signs at all intersections affected by the power outage.
Police said no injuries were reported, and no charges will be filed.
