Perham Woman Killed In Single-Car Crash

A Perham woman was killed in an accident in the town of Woodland on Wednesday.

State Police say they were notified of a vehicle on its side on the Woodland Center Road, at around 5:00 Wednesday evening. The passerby who reported the crash said the driver was unresponsive. Police and an ambulance responded, to find that 72-year-old Judith Hewitt of Perham had not survived the crash.

The accident is under investigation because police say, at this point, it's not clear what caused Hewitt to lose control of the Chevy Blazer and drive into a snowbank. After hitting the snowbank, the vehicle rolled onto its side.

Woodland and Perham are located just west of Caribou, in Aroostook County.
