A woman was taken to the hospital with significant injuries after being struck by a small SUV in downtown Bangor on Sunday.

Police responded to a report of a crash on Hammond Street near Court Street at about 8:20 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a female pedestrian -- Irene Larrabee, 61, of Bangor -- had been struck by a vehicle driven by Brian Hodgins, 31, of Bangor.

Hammond Street from Ohio to Court Street remained closed while officials investigated.

Larrabee was transported to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment.

This incident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
