Peaks Island Teen Dies in Riding Lawn Mower Accident

A teenager from Peaks Island died Monday when he had an accident with a riding law mower.

Portland Police told WGME-TV that the incident happened just after 4 p.m. Monday. A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured when he became trapped between the riding lawn mower he was operating and a parked boat.

Paramedics from Peaks Island and the mainland, as well as team from LifeFlight were unable to revive the teen, whose name has not been released. The Chief Medical Examiner will now work to determine the manner and cause of death.
