This Saturday, September 21st in Lewiston is the 16th annual Dempsey Challenge. Yes, that Dempsey. For the past 15 years, Patrick Dempsey and the community have rallied together to assist those affected by cancer.

This year’s Dempsey Challenge marks 16 years of making life better for people impacted by cancer. Come together on this one, powerful day to rally, honor, and celebrate 16 years of providing comfort, connection, compassion, and choice to cancer patients, their loved ones, care partners, and survivors—all at no cost.

Here is How You Can Get Involved Last Minute for the Dempsey Challenge in Maine

Despite the event being only 3 days out, you can still register and participate in any of the multiple challenges used to raised money for the Dempsey Center.

You can also donate to help reach this year's goal of $2 million! So far, almost $1.5 million has been raised. Every single dollar raised goes directly to client care and support of those impacted by cancer.

Since its conception in 2009 by actor and philanthropist Patrick Dempsey, the Dempsey Challenge event has raised over $18 million for the Dempsey Center. 2022 was a record year raising $1.6 million. This year's event is on track to break that record.

You can participate virtually if the short notice is too much of a challenge to make it to Lewiston this Saturday. If you can make it in person, when you register, you will have a couple different challenge options to participate in.

Participants can choose from a multitude of events ranging from a 5K run/walk, a 10, 25, 50, or 65-mile metric century cycling event, or the 25-mile event that will challenge participants to run 4.5 miles and ride 21.5 miles to the finish line at the festival in the park.
