A tractor trailer crash overnight in Augusta is still causing problems. A portion of the northbound lane was closed completely overnight and is still down to one lane.

Motorists are advised to be aware of the issue and slow down as they approach the Bond Brook overpass. Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that the wreck has been removed but a 30-foot section of the guardrail on the bridge was destroyed. That area of the interstate will remain one-lane for some time.

McCausland says the impact of the crash ripped the front axle from the truck and it fell below to the Bond Brook Road. In addition, the truck's fuel tanks ripped open, spilling diesel fuel on the road.

Police say the driver of the truck,  22-year-old Anna Tronscosco-Williams of Indiana, lost control of the empty flatbed tractor trailer on the icy roadway and struck the guardrails. She was not injured and McCausland says no charges will be filed. The tractor portion of the truck was destroyed and, combined with damage to both the truck and the bridge, will likely cost several hundred thousand dollars to repair.
