After a report of gunfire and a police pursuit, Maine Police have taken a Massachusetts man into custody.

Maine State Police Investigated After a Report of Shots Fired in Paris

Luis Andres Lorenzo Rondon, 24, of Lawrence, Massachuetts, was arrested on Wednesday in the town of Paris.

It was just after 11:30 Wednesday night when the Oxford County Regional Communications Center received a report of several shots fired on Park Street in the town of Paris. A Maine State Police Trooper was in the area and responded to assist.

Maine Police Say a High-Speed Pursuit By Several Agencies Ended in a Crash

When the Trooper arrived on the scene, they saw a blue SUV leaving the immediate area and atttempted to conduct a traffic stop in West Paris. The driver refused to pull over and subsequently led the police on a high-speed chase. Law enforcement officers from Oxford and Androscoggin Counties assisted in the pursuit.

The chase ended after a spike mat was deployed and the driver crashed the vehicle in a field on Route 26 in Mechanic Falls.

All Four Occupants of the Vehicle Were Taken to the Hospital

Four people in the vehicle were transported to Central Maine Medical Center. One of the passengers suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The other three were treated and released. No one else was hurt in the incident.

Rondon is charged with:

  • Eluding an officer
  • Reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon (vehicle)
  • Driving to Endanger
  • Criminal Speeding

He was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail.

There's no word on whether a firearm was found in the vehicle or whether additional charges with be forthcoming. This incident remains under investigation.
