The Eagle Point Energy Center in Orrington suffered a huge fire Tuesday night, sending smoke billowing into Bangor and Brewer.

Fire crews from several local communities battled the blaze overnight.
Orrington, Maine Energy Plant Fire Pours Toxic Fumes Into Bangor and Brewer
The Penobscot Regional Communications Center is cautioning residents with respiratory problems to stay inside as much as possible as the toxic fumes from the fire could prove problematic.
Eagle Point Energy Center converts waste to electricity.
The plant was formerly known at the Penobscot Energy Recovery Company, until it went up for auction in 2023.
