The Orono Bog Boardwalk has opened for the season.

The Orono Bog Boardwalk has opened for the season. After saying the Boardwalk won't open this season, a reversal in the decision was shared on Facebook earlier this month.

Visitors are asked to "wear a mask when 6 foot distancing cannot be accomplished around individuals outside of your household."

Last month, the Boardwalk Management Team cited increases in COVID-19 infections and positivity rates as reasons for keeping the trail section closed for the season.

The Bog Boardwalk has been visited by over 350,000 people from all 50 states, and more than 30 countries since it opened in 2003. The Boardwalk loop trail is about one mile. To protect the environment and wildlife, dogs are not allowed.
