Old Town Police Say Fatal Shooting is a Homicide
State and Old Town Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Saturday.
UPDATE: State Police say the shooting of Derek Blyth has been ruled a homicide, and the suspect located and interviewed. Police will continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
Old Town Police were called to 345 Brunswick Street at 1:30 Saturday afternoon to a report of a shooting inside the home. Responding officers found 42-year-old Derek Blyth deceased at the address. His body was taken for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The Maine State Police Evidence Response Team spent the weekend investigating the scene. Officials say they believe this is an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. So far, no arrests have been made.
