An Oakland man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in the town of Smithfield.

The Somerset County Sheriff's Office says a Tacoma pickup driven by 60-year-old James Vintinner left the East Pond Road at around 8:00 Tuesday night and rolled over multiple times. According to Centralmaine.com, the truck was on its roof when help arrived. It was determined that, before rolling over, the truck had sheared off a utility pole. He was wearing a seatbelt prior to the crash.

Vintinner was alone in the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials are now working to try and determine what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

Helping the Sheriff's Office at the scene were the Smithfield Fire Department, the Oakland Fire Department, Delta Rescue, Chuck's Towing, and Giberson's Funeral Home. Central Maine Power replaced the pole.

This crash remains under investigation.
