Maine Vet Joke Offers To Deliver (Human) Babies For Cookies
A Maine Veterinary Hospital celebrated April Fools by offering to deliver human babies for cookies or furniture.
Crisis Averted With an April Fool's Facebook Post With a Hilarious Premise
Hats off to the Little River Veterinary Clinic in Northport, Maine. In my opinion, they won the prize for the best April Fool's Joke on Facebook. It may not have convinced me they were serious, but the premise is hilarious and topical.
The Facebook post on the clinic's page claims they have averted a crisis by being granted a 'conditional emergency license to help deliver HUMAN babies in Waldo County.'

The Required Payment for Birthing Services May Be in Your Kitchen or Garden
And it's incredibly affordable! While they don't accept insurance, they'll deliver a human baby for cookies, garden vegetables, spices, and homemade furniture.

I've always found the best April Fool's jokes have some factual basis. The staff of the Northport clinic recognized the need for human labor and birthing centers in Maine, which seem to be closing at an alarming rate, so they capitalized on that with this brilliant and hilarious joke.
Due to the lack of foresight over the last 25 years on behalf of state and federal governments, Waldo County has no answer for the pregnant woman looking for a traditional hospital delivery.
They add that their equipment is unconventional, but like Fed Ex, they will do their best to deliver on time.
The Joke's Payoff is Definitely in the Microchipping and Tick Collar Anklets
But the paragraph that made me laugh the hardest was the final one in the post, which promised to microchip each baby, give them a rabies shot, clip their nails, and wrap a tick and flea collar around each ankle.
Well done, Little River Veterinary Clinic! While I won't be calling you to birth any human babies (I'm done with all that), you're the type of people I'd want taking care of my furry babies.
