No One Was Hurt in This Fiery Crash on I-95 in Waterville
Maine State Police say both drivers walked away from a crash on I-95 in Waterville that ended with one vehicle bursting into flames.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the crash happened at approximately 8:00 Tuesday night, near mile marker 129 northbound. A Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by 25-year-old Jace Tillson of Clinton, was traveling too fast when he tried to pass a Mercedes SUV, being driven by 65-year-old Kemily Benes of Embden. In addition, Tillson was passing in the breakdown lane and struck Benes' vehicle on the passenger side. Tillson then lost control of his truck, which rolled over into the breakdown lane just before the Messalonskee Stream Bridge. At this point, the truck caught fire.
The interstate was shut down for just under 2 hours while emergency crews extinguished the fire and removed both vehicles.
No one was injured in the crash.
